I love multi coloured yarn but I always struggle with finding the right stitch for it but the other day I realized that it doesn’t need a fancy stitch, simple single crochets really made the colours stand out. The Back to Basics Cotton Cloth is completely beginner friendly and only uses single crochet!

SUPPLIES
- 50 Yards of 100% Cotton Yarn (I used Bernat Handicrafter)
- 6 mm Crochet Hook
- Large Yarn Needle
- Scissors
NOTES
- Beginning chain does not count as a stitch
- I used a 6 mm hook to make my cotton cloths because I like my tension a little looser but you’re welcome to use a smaller hook if you prefer
ABBREVIATIONS
- ch – Chain
- sc – Single Crchet
DIMENSIONS
My cloths measure approximately 8 inches square.
PATTERN
Chain 25
ROW 1
- sc in the second ch from the hook and each ch across
- ch 1, turn (24 stitches)
ROW 2 – 27
- sc in each stitch across
- ch 1, turn (24 stitches)
*I like my cloths square so I repeated Row 2 until it was square, which for me was 27 rows, this may be different for you so repeat Row 2 until your cloth is square.
Fasten off and weave in ends!
OPTIONAL BORDER
I liked the look of the raw edges on my cloths but if you prefer add a border continue with the instructions below:
Turn your cloth clockwise and sc down the side, placing an sc at the end of each row, place 2 sc in the corner stitch. Continue to sc around the remaining 3 sides, placing 2 sc in each corner, slst to beginning sc. Fasten off and weave in ends!
What is the color of this specific yarn. Bernat doesn’t show anything variegated through the link you provide.
