Granny’s Water Bottle Bag

SUPPLIES

NOTES

  • Beginning chain may or may not count as a stitch (noted in pattern)
  • I used Bernat Handicrafter to make my bag but any worsted weight cotton yarn will work fine.

SIZING

This pattern is written to fit a standard size 24 oz water bottle

ABBREVIATIONS

  • ch – Chain
  • slst – Slip Stitch
  • sc – Single Crochet
  • dc – Double Crochet

PATTERN

Begin with a magic ring, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch)

ROW 1 

  • dc 8 into mr
  • slst to first dc (8 stitches)

ROW 2 

  • ch 2 (does not count as a stitch)
  • 2 dc in each stitch around
  • slst to beginning dc (16 stitches)

ROW 3

  • ch 2 (does not count as a stitch)
  • *dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • slst to beginning dc (24 stitches)

ROW 4

  • ch 2 (does not count as a stitch)
  • dc in each stitch around
  • slst to beginning dc

ROW 5

  • ch 2 (counts as beginning dc), 2 dc in the same stitch
  • *Skip 2 stitches, 3 dc in the next stitch*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • slst to beginning dc (24 stitches)

ROW 6 – 16

  • slst over next 2 stitches and into the first space
  • ch 2 (counts as beginning dc), 2 dc in the same space
  • *Skip next 3 stitches, 3 dc in next space*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • slst to beginning dc (24 stitches)

ROW 17 – 19

  • ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), sc in the same stitch and in each stitch around
  • slst to beginning sc (24 stitches)

ROW 20

  • ch 100 for shoulder strap or 150 for cross body strap 
  • Skip 11 stitches from previous row and slst into the next stitch to join the other side of your strap to the bag, slst into the next stitch to reinforce the strap attachment
  • slst back across the strap in each ch
  • slst into the stitch beside the strap to secure 

Fasten off, weave in ends and enjoy your new bag!
