Hanging Planter

SUPPLIES

  • 75 Yards DK weight Cotton or Cotton blend Yarn 
  • 5mm Hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Wooden Beads (optional)

ABBREVIATIONS (US Terms)

  • slst – Slip Stitch
  • ch – Chain
  • sc – Single Crochet
  • dc – Double Crochet

NOTES

  • Beginning chain may or may not count as a stitch
  • This hanging planter was designed to fit a 4.5 inch plant pot

PATTERN

Ch 4, join with slst to form a ring.

ROW 1

  • ch 2 (counts as dc)
  • dc 11 into ring
  • join with slst to top of ch 2

ROW 2

  • ch 2 (counts as dc), dc into top of ch 2 from previous row
  • dc 2 in each stitch around
  • join with slst to top of ch 2

ROW

  • ch 2 (counts as dc), dc into top of ch 2 from previous row, dc in next stitch
  • * 2 dc in next stitch, dc in next stitch*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • join with slst to top of ch 2

ROW 4

  • ch 2 (counts as dc), dc into top of ch 2 from previous row, dc in next 2 stitches
  • * 2 dc in next stitch, dc in next 2 stitches*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • join with slst to top of ch 2

ROW 5

  • ch 3 (counts as dc and ch 1)
  • * skip next stitch, dc, ch 1*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • join with slst to second ch of beginning ch 3

ROW 6

  • ch 1 (does not count as a stitch)
  • *sc in next stitch, sc in next ch space*
  • Repeat from * to * around
  • join with slst to beginning sc

ROW 7 – 14

Repeat Row 5 and 6

ROW 15

  • ch 1 (does not count as a stitch)
  • sc in each stitch around
  • join with slst to beginning sc

ROW 16

  • ch 250
  • skip next 11 stitches
  • slst over next 12 stitches
  • ch 250
  • skip next 11 stitches
  • slst over next 12 stitches

FINISHING

Fasten off and weave in ends. I threaded tops of straps through wooden beads for added stability but this isn’t necessary.
