Product Review: Clover Takumi Bamboo Single Pointed Knitting Needles

As a new-ish knitter I struggled with knitting flat pieces on circular needles. I find them awkward and slippery when I’m not knitting in the round so I really wanted to invest in a set of Single Pointed needles. I’d purchased a couple of pairs of Takumi Bamboo needles at my local Michaels and loved them, I had planned to add a new pair to my collection whenever they happened to be on sale so when the folks at Clover contacted me and asked if I’d like to try out any of their tools, the Takumi Single Pointed Needles were on the top of my wish list!

I was delighted when the package arrived and couldn’t wait to take them for a spin. I’ve used them for about a month now with a variety of different types of yarn so I feel like a I can give a solid review.

From the Clover website:

“Light in weight with a warm natural touch, bamboo is the ideal material for making knitting needles. We choose only the finest bamboo to manufacture our knitting needles with acurate specifications. Each Knitting Needle is polished for smoothness.”

I’ve been crocheting for a number of years and I don’t like using wooden crochet hooks, I often find them rough in spots and they snag the yarn occasionally so I was extra critical about the smoothness of the Bamboo Needles. I didn’t come across a single rough spot or have yarn catch or snag at all. I was really surprised at how smooth the Takumi Needles actually are.

The points were nice and sharp and slid through the stitches easily.

The needles are light weight, I had no problem knitting for quite a long time with them, they were really comfortable in my hands.

A huge plus for me is that they’re sold at Michaels, I can easily pick up a size I need and buy them with the Michaels coupon.

In all honesty I couldn’t find a single flaw, they’re beautifully made, function as they’re supposed to and the price is fantastic. If you’re in the market for straight needles I highly recommend the Takumi Bamboo Single Point Needles!

They can be purchased directly from Clover here or at your local Michaels Store.

**I was provided with Takumi Bamboo Straight Needles at no charge but the opinions expressed are my own.
